St. Dominic's RC Primary School

St. Dominic's Catholic School is a Voluntary Aided School for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. The school is situated in a delightful setting adjacent to the Parish Church of the Annunciation, approximately three miles from Stroud and Minchinhampton and one mile from Nailsworth and Woodchester village. The School was built in 1884 and was extended in 1906, 1963 and 1993. The building and premises are well maintained.
The school has very good facilities, comprising of four separate classrooms, an outside Foundation play area, a library, and a large hall which is used by all classes for a wide range of activities. Meals are cooked in the school's kitchen and there is generous office and storage space.
The children have a tarmac play area as well as two grass playing fields. One field, within the school boundary, contains new playground equipment including a slide and a climbing wall, as well as playing space. The second larger field which is used for more formal games, is about 300 yards away.
Accreditations
In December 2006 the school achieved Healthy School status. This shows that the school exhibits a high level of achievement in, and commitment to, promoting the health of the school community.

We are also delighted to announce that the school has been accredited by an Investors in Children quality assurance scheme for the Foundation Stage. This means that we now have the Bristol Standard for Early Years. Both these accreditations last for three years.

The school is working towards gaining the Artsmark 2007.
